Dear Chautari friends,
Dr Shankar Sharma, Ambassador of Nepal to the United States will be here in the valley and we are organizing a Chautari meeting on Saturday, April 6th at 6pm, followed by a potluck dinner. Meera and I are happy to host this meeting at our place in Chandler. Dr Sharma will update us the current political situation in Nepal and discuss about other relevant topics. Please let me know if you can join by Friday, the 22nd, so that we can start planning for food.
Phoenix Chautari began as an informal group in February 2006 to foster open dialogue on matters pertaining to the interest of Nonresidential Nepali (NRN) in Arizona. Although it started as a forum to discuss upon changing social and political context of Nepal during the time, since March 2008 the Chautari has expanded its themes including democracy, development, health, environment, sustainability, and tourism that have specific relevance to Nepal and here in Arizona. The idea of Phoenix Chautari is to create democratic space where Nepali and friends of Nepal are engaged and remain part of vibrant civil society. The Chautari is run through voluntary ethics and is inclusive to ideas for discussion themes. If you want to learn more about Chautari, and its past events, please visit our website http://phoenixchautari.org/.
Thank you and look forward to meeting you on April 6th.
